J. Amy Newman, owner of Newman Research Services, has been helping others solve family history mysteries for well over 25 years. When genealogy became popular on the Internet, she began serving the public as a volunteer, locating cemetery records, photographing headstones and locating other records in the Vancouver area of British Columbia.
In 1999 she began her career as a professional heir-searcher and since then has successfully identified and located thousands of beneficiaries and heirs-at-law in Canada and the USA. This experience enables Amy to understand the techniques, databases and resources associated with genealogy and people-searching. With an intuitive ability to follow the right leads and get to the facts, Amy is known for her dedication, thoroughness and high success rate.
Leading a network of experienced researchers, Newman Research Services can help you confirm relationships, obtain documents and find people.

I have retained Amy Newman at Newman Research Services to search for heirs of estates, and would happily retain her again or refer others to her for that work. I'm a solicitor who practices mainly in the area of estate planning and administration, and in that capacity have had occasion to work with several heir tracing firms over the years; hers is the best I have found.
On one estate, Ms. Newman helped me by researching a family tree with roots across Canada, going back to the early 20th Century, in order to identify possible distant next-of-kin of the deceased. She accomplished this task where others had failed, and produced a lengthy and professional Affidavit setting out the steps and the results of her search, which was submitted to the Supreme Court and accepted by the Court as a satisfactory search for next-of-kin.
Another case required Ms. Newman to locate two living heirs overseas, in non-English speaking countries. This she was able to do quickly and successfully, and for a very reasonable fee.
In my experience, Ms. Newman's work is timely, thorough and cost-effective. Her billing practices are transparent and fees are appropriate. This work is technical and can be very time consuming. It is not required in every case, but when required, it is important for executors and their advisors to use a service that is so reliable, reasonably priced and effective.

Dear Amy, Thank you for your foresighted and profound preparatory work; it’s a pleasure to work with you.

When we first heard from an heir-search company about our cousin passing away in England I was very skeptical, as were other members of my family. It sounded like a scam to us so we let it go. It wasn't until Amy Newman contacted me and explained that she would now be handling communication about the inheritance that my skepticism was put to rest. When I received the cheque in the mail I was so elated I booked a cruise to Europe!!! Thanks again to Amy Newman!

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Amy Newman of Newman Research Services. Exceedingly skilled, prompt, and meticulous would describe her highly honed sense of professionalism to provide genealogy research for estates. But her expertise goes deeper. Amy genuinely cares about linking individuals to their familial roots. In our particular situation, she discovered an old letter to the editor that my late grandfather had written, published 1930 in the Globe and Mail. The letter in and of itself was not a necessary proof document, but it had tremendous personal and sentimental value. Amy intuited this and shared it with us. Our entire family was so thrilled with that little unexpected discovery. We would, without a moment's hesitation, be delighted to recommend Amy Newman's research and heir-finding services.

Just talking to you relieved me of so much stress and frustration. I am completely satisfied with your services and the constant updating of your progress. You provided me hope when I was flailing about in a dead end alley. I was able to get copies of Mom's marriage certificate and will now be able to file for her veteran's widow benefit. Thank you again.

Thank you very much for your recent search on the internet for my cousins, with whom I had lost contact 50 years ago. The speed and thoroughness of your search resulted in my very quickly making contact with them. I would be pleased to allow you to use my name as a reference.

After 35 years my wife was finally reunited with her mother. The process took almost a year but with the persistent and understanding efforts of Amy Newman this finally took place… Amy has our highest recommendation and our eternal thanks for bringing my wife into contact with her mother which has been a wonderful experience for both.

Amy has an incredible ability to synthesize information - her eye for detail is remarkable, and she immediately knows how to connect information with people, and people with people. I have never met anyone with such incredible networking ability, which surely stands her in good stead in her genealogical research. She strikes me as a person who would leave no stone unturned. Her highly personable nature and keen interest in people and her work make her a wonderful person to work with.
